Due to its popularity, you have probably heard of the microneedling procedure already. For the benefit of those who are not yet informed, though, microneedling is a procedure which involves a small handheld device with small (or rather, micro) needles. These needles are used to “wound” the skin in order to force the body to heal it.

How does microneedling work?

Microneedling is a treatment option for those who want scars and unwanted skin issues (like fine lines and wrinkles) removed. This treatment wounds the top most layer of the skin in order to encourage the body to create collagen. Collagen is the component in the body responsible for the upkeep of the skin, repairing wounds, lightening dark spots, tightening the skin, and more!

As we age, though, the production of collagen lowers, as the body prioritizes more important body repairs. Microneedling bypasses this by forcing the body to recognize that the skin needs healing too. The result is the production of new and younger skin.

What is PRP?

PRP, also known as Platelet Rich Plasma, is one of the latest groundbreaking procedures in the world of medicine. It involves the processing of the human blood in order to get a higher concentration of platelets. Platelets are in charge of healing the body’s muscles. When targeted to problem areas, though, the platelets also work in repairing other areas of the body, in this case, our skin.

What is PRP Microneedling Therapy?

Our PRP Microneedling treatment involves two procedures (microneedling and PRP done consecutively). The patient first undergoes the microneedling treatment. Then, the patient’s blood is taken for processing to create the PRP concentrate. This would then be injected into the skin in order to help in the skin’s repair.

Are there any side effects?

The good thing about microneedling is that it is non-surgical and non-invasive. Thus, suffering from side effects due to this treatment is very rare. As for the PRP, since the PRP is a solution made straight from the patient’s blood, and more importantly, it only works to stimulate the natural healing process of the body, the side effects too, are close to nothing.

Is PRP Microneedling Therapy safe for everyone?

Yes, unless you have health issues involving your blood such as sepsis or blood infection. Otherwise, anyone can benefit from PRP microneedling.

How long is the recovery time?

The results and recovery time varies from patient to patient, and can be dictated due to different factors such as the scale of the treatment area. On the average, though, swelling and redness can go away as fast as an hour after treatment, or last for a few days.
